I ran on Petra, a mom of two little girls, by accident when we went for a walk with our kids from preschool club. We started to talk and after a brief moment I found out that she and the girls recently moved back to Czech from England. Being new in the Czech school system, we arranged a meeting at her place, to explain how things work. I immediately accepted her older daughter in the preschool club, the younger followed soon after. Both girls had troubles speaking – their language was a mixture of English, Slovak, Czech and German.
In the preschool club, we have managed to prepare Helena for the switch from preschool club to a normal kindergarten. She quickly fitted in and in the end of the year, she passed the admission exam for the elementary school. Hana, her younger sister, followed Helena’s lead and was admitted in the kindergarten.
Sometimes, the children need only a short time to adapt to the new environment and integrate in the educational system. Thanks to the thorough preparation of our preschool club workers, the girls had easier start in both of the institution, kindergarten and school.
